A Woodbury woman has died, two other members of her family are in critical condition and a fourth family member is in serious condition after a suspicious early morning fire at a home.

A 12-year-old son escaped from the house on the 1200 block of Silverwood Road and called Woodbury police from a neighbor's home at 3:15 a.m. Two adults and the caller's 9-old sister were removed from the house by police answering the call. All were taken to Regions Hospital where the adult female has died.

Woodbury police said the husband and daughter are in critical condition.

Three police officers were also treated at Regions Hospital, the Woodbury Department of Public Safety said. Two were treated for smoke inhalation and one for a cut hand.

Two police officers saw the two adults through a lower level door. After getting them out of the house, firefighters then found the young girl in a bedroom, the department said.

Police and fire officials are still at the scene and have been joined by investigators from the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the state Fire Marshall's Office.

In a statement, the Woodbury department called the fire "suspicious," prompting the call for state assistance on the investigation.
