Minnesota Firefighter Killed in Wreck

The firefighter died crash Sunday, Nov. 12 on his way to an emergency call.

The United States Fire Administration has reported that Melrose, Minn. Firefighter Kyle Weisbrich was killed while responding on his motorcycle Sunday, Nov. 12 on his way to an emergency call.

He was unable to bring his vehicle to a stop at an intersection where he lacked the right of way and struck another vehicle. He was transported to a hospital but passed away approximately two hours later from injuries received, according to the USFA.

Excessive speed was reported to be a contributing factor in the incident.

Weisbrich, 22, was a probationary firefighter with the department.

The Minnesota Fallen Firefighter Memorial Association is currently helping the family and the department make arrangements for a memorial service.

Funeral Information

Visitation for Firefighter Weisbrich will be held Friday, Nov. 17 between 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home, 418 South 5th Ave East, Melrose, Minn.

Family and firefighter prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 18 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. prior to the funeral service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose, Minn. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
