A wildfire near Welty has burned several hundred acres Wednesday evening, according to officials.

Welty Fire Chief Donald York said about 300 to 400 acres have burned and that the fire line is about two miles north of Welty on Highway 48. York said the fire is heading toward the Deep Fork River.

Officials said most of the fire is on wildfire land. No structures have been damaged, although York said Welty firefighters prevented one home from being burned in the area.

York said he expects the fire to burn out by morning. Fire crews from Welty, Bristow and the Bureau of Indian Affairs are fighting the blaze.
