Raw Chopper 10 Video: Trench Rescue

NBC Chopper 10 captured images of one of the trapped men trying to dig himself out with a small shovel. Firefighters put down boards to equalize the weight distribution on the ground around the trench and then to firm up the walls of the trench.

Rescue workers lowered buckets down to a trapped man to remove the dirt. He appeared to be actively helping in his own rescue and both men appeared able to walk when they were finally rescued from the large hole in the ground. The last man was taken to a hospital around 1:30 p.m.

Inspectors said the trench was too deep and they weren't using proper equipment.

The men have been taken to a hospital.

There is no word yet on their conditions.
