Pennsylvania Firefighter Battles Blaze at Own Home

A firefighter had to battle flames at his home on Monday.

A local firefighter had to battle flames at his home on Monday.

Chris McBride rushed to his house in Charleroi, Washington County, to fight the fire that broke out early Wednesday afternoon.

McBride lived in the house with his parents, girlfriend and 7-year-old son.

When crews arrived, McBride's girlfriend was trapped on the roof. Firefighters used a ladder to rescue her.

McBride's father was also home at the time. Crews said he suffered burns to his head and face and was flown to a local hospital, where he is expected to be OK.

Authorities continue to investigate how and where the blaze began.
