Dozens of people are homeless after a fire destroyed their town homes Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out in the 2200 block of 15th Street in Northeast. One person was seriously injured and 8 homes were damaged.

Firefighters believe the blaze began in the top floor of a home in the middle of the row of townhouses. Witnesses say one woman jumped from her window to save her life.

Low water pressure in the neighborhood made it more difficult for firefighters to get a handle on the blaze, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
