Former South Carolina Assistant Chief Arrested on Child Porn Charge

The ex-chief allegedly kept child pornography on a computer owned by the fire department.

A former Pickens assistant fire chief was charged Wednesday with keeping child pornography on a computer owned by the fire department.

Casey Eugene Lewis of Pickens was charged with second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to warrants, Lewis received or duplicated a computer file on a county-owned computer that shows adult males engaging in sexual activities with minors.

The investigation was conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division.

The Pickens County Sheriff's Office said two weeks ago that it turned the investigation over to SLED, because SLED had more resources for investigating that type of case.

Pickens City Administrator Chris Eldridge said Lewis resigned from the fire department on August 31, about two weeks after the incident is alleged to have happened.

Lewis had been with the department for about four years and assistant chief for two years, Eldridge said.

Lewis was arrested Wednesday and released on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond, according to Sgt. Anthony Massingill of the Pickens County Detention Center.
