Firefighters Battling Wildfires Across Southeastern La.

Teams of firefighters from 14 states are battling an outbreak of wildfires across southeastern Louisiana.

The fires are being fueled by trees brought down by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

A command post has been set up in Hammond to direct teams stationed in Tangipahoa, Washington and St. Tammany Parishes.

Over the past month, fires have blackened 900 acres of land and firefighters have saved 93 homes.
