Three Stafford firefighters were injured this morning after their firetruck overturned as they were responding to a call around 5:30.

Sheriff Charles Jett said the Falmouth firefighters lost control of the truck on Plantation Drive.

A rescue squad team - also responding to the call for cardiac arrest - came upon the overturned firetruck and provided aide to the firefighters.

Two were taken by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital and another was taken by ambulance to Mary Washington Hospital. Their conditions were unavailable this morning, and authorities did not immediately release their names.

Another rescue vehicle, which was ahead of the firetruck, was able to respond to the initial emergency call.

Plantation Drive was shut down for about 90 minutes after the accident.

The Stafford Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident, along with State Police.
