Mother of Teen Charged in Fire Arrested for Theft in Iowa

The mother of a teenager accused of setting a deadly fire in Griswold last month has been charged with theft.

ATLANTIC, Iowa (AP) -- The mother of a teenager accused of setting a deadly fire in Griswold last month has been charged with theft.

Debbie Street was arrested Thursday on second-degree theft and fourth-degree theft warrants issued in March 2004 in Pottawattamie County. She was being held in the Cass County jail in Atlantic on bond of $11,500.

Street is the mother of Tracey Dyess, 17, who is accused of setting a fire on March 31 that killed two other children.

Dyess is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson.
