The Assistant Fire Chief of the Rensselaer Fire Department has died.

Assistant Fire Chief Mike Falkouski suffered a heart attack shortly after arriving at a garage fire on Ash Street in the city of Rensselaer yesterday morning. Falkouski was rushed to Albany Memorial where he passed away later that day.

The man who owns the garage, Jeff Williams, was apparently working on a truck when it exploded. He was badly burned and taken to the Burn Center at the Westchester Medical Center.

The family of Mike Falkouski tells NEWS10 that he was an organ donor and they would like to stress the importance of organ donation.
