MILLSBORO, Del. (AP) -- Firefighters from across the region battled a large brush fire that broke out near Millsboro on Wednesday, authorities said.
The blaze broke out around 2 p.m. near county roads 431 and 432 in the Phillips Hill area, said Greg Tietmeyer, president of the Millville Vol. Fire Co.
''It's vast,'' Tietmeyer said. ''They're still working on hot spots.''
There were no immediate reports of property damage or injuries, but Millsboro fire officials told WBOC-TV that the blaze threatened homes and chicken houses.
Fire departments from as far away as New Castle County and the Eastern Shore of Maryland responded to the fire or were on standby to assist, as did forestry crews.
