USFA Announces On Duty Death Almost Three Months Later

USFA announced on December 22 that the death of Fire Police Captain John Brenckle was a line of duty death. The announcement comes almost three months after his death.

Firefighter Brenckle was working during the week of September 17, helping to clean up the massive damage of The Etna Flood. His leg became infected while working in the floodwater, and he became ill. He was hospitalized, and died several days later.
