TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A fire burning in the Coronado National Forest prompted authorities to close the Madera Canyon Recreation Area as a precaution.

On Sunday, firefighters built containment lines to protect homes and facilities in the canyon south of Tucson.

''It will take monsoon moisture to extinguish this fire,'' Coronado National Forest spokeswoman Heidi Schewel said.

The lightning-sparked Florida fire started Thursday and has grown to 850 acres. Schewel said that because of dry conditions and high temperatures, the fire on Florida Peak has ''been burning actively, and it's putting up a lot of smoke.''

She said 430 firefighters are working on the blaze, which is burning in wilderness areas and is not threatening any structures.
