Alabama Firefighter Killed During Hurricane Ivan; Tree Falls On Top of Vehicle

Clint Romine, 25, a firefighter with the Good Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Alabama, was killed when a tree fell on top of his vehicle during Hurricane Ivan.
Clint Romine, 25, a firefighter with the Good Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Alabama, was killed at approximately 6pm Thursday, September 17, when a tree fell on top of his vehicle.

During Hurricane Ivan, Firefighter Romine was assisting the Anderson Fire Department in removing a tree from the road. Firefighter Romine left the scene to go home, and bring back a chain saw. While en route to his house, a tree fell on top of his car. According to Lauderdale County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments President Stan Wallace, "We don't know if he ran into the tree first, or if the tree just fell on to the top of his vehicle." Firefighter Romine was killed on the scene.

Two firefighters from The Anderson Fire Department were also injured while en route to Firefighter Romine's crash. They were treated at a local hospital and later released.
