FORT COLLINS, Colo. --
A tree trimmer was killed in Fort Collins Tuesday when a large branch gave way and hit him while he was 40 to 50 feet in the air.
The victim was working in the 2000 block of Hunter Court and was wearing a safety harness when he was hit. His body could be seen wedged in a branch of the tree.
The first call for help came in a 1 p.m., according to Patrick Love of Poudre Valley Fire Authority. Firefighters used a bucket lift to reach the victim and determined that he was dead.
Rescuers are working with the local power company to cut power to electrical wires near the body so that the victim's body can be brought down.
Love said the incident is considered to be an industrial accident.
The Larimer County coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The victim's name has not been released.
