O'Shea, 41, was a 17-year veteran of FDNY and a member of Ladder 127 in Queens.
According to the Associated Press, he helped battle a blaze in Kew Gardens, Queens, that afternoon. He reported feeling ill, but refused medical attention at the scene and went home to Holbrook, N.Y. Upon arriving home, his family immediately rushed him to Brookhaven Hospital, where he died.
O'Shea is survived by his wife Yetta and two young sons.
According to the Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 94, the wake will take place Wednesday, October 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9:30 p.m., and on Thursday, October 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9:30 p.m. at the Michael J. Grant Funeral Home, at 571 Suffolk Ave. in Brentwood, NY.
The funeral will take place Friday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd RC Church located at 1370 Grundy Avenue, Holbrook, NY 11741.
