The Man Who Would Be Chief

For more than 36 years, Steve Richards has been a member of the Townsend Fire Department, some 16 of them as assistant chief. With the retirement of Chief Don Hurme on Dec. 21, he was appointed Acting Chief and Richards will hold that position through March of this year, or until a new permanent chief is found.
