Firefighter Ethan Sorrell was released from the Washington Hospital Center on Wednesday evening.

Firefighter Ethan Sorrell was released from the Washington Hospital Center on Wednesday evening, according to Bladensburg Fire Chief Randy Kuenzli. Sorrellwas among the firefighters injured in last Friday's Riverdale house fire.

Sorrell, accompanied by his parents, headed to their home in Buies Creek, North Carolina, to recover. Kuenzli says it will be a couple weeks before Sorrell might be ready to return to duty.

Sorrell has regained the use of his voice after suffering respiratory burns during the house fire last week.

Another Bladensburg firefighter, Kevin O'Toole, remains hospitalized after suffering burns over nearly half of his body.

Kuenzli says O' Toole is improving, and has been through one operation, with more to come.
