Strong winds fanned flames early Tuesday that damaged two homes on the city's far east side.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Strong winds fanned flames early Tuesday that damaged two homes on the city's far east side, fire officials said Tuesday.

No one was injured in the fires in the 7700 block of Acapulco Road and nearby.

Six people were displaced because of the fires at the two homes.

Firefighters rescued a family dog which suffered smoke inhalation. The canine was treated at the scene and reunited with his owner.

The fire damaged one home on Acapulco and then flames jumped to a nearby residence, fire officials said.

Authorities estimated the damage to the homes at $240,000.

A cause of the fire was under investigation, fire officials said.
