Calif. House Fire Claims One; Injures Three

An 83-year-old man was killed.

May 12--LAWNDALE -- An elderly man was killed and three others were injured after early morning fire at a home in Lawndale.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m. on Saturday at a home on the 15200 block of Freeman Avenue.

According to Sheriff's, the fire was contained mostly to the bedroom.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in less than 15 minutes. That's when they found the body of the 83-year-old man in the room.

Three family members, one woman and two men, were taken to a local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Arson investigators were called to the scene, though preliminary reports revealed that no foul play was involved in the fire.

Detectives are continuing their investigation find the cause of the blaze.
