Tanks in the tire store exploded as the fire spread.

A raging fire in a tire shop caused acetylene tanks to explode and sent plumes of black acrid smoke into the air on Friday.

Just after 4 p.m., fire officials said a person ran into the store telling workers there was a grass fire, according to KOIN.

The flames reportedly spread into the L-shaped building, and then traveled up to the roof, the station reported.

Crews remained on the scene for several hours quelling the flames in the store that was destroyed. They did manage to keep the fire from spreading to other structures.
