Two young children and a Chicago firefighter suffered minor injuries today following an early-morning fire in the city's Little Village neighborhood.

Two young children and a Chicago firefighter suffered minor injuries today following an early-morning fire in the city's Little Village neighborhood.

The fire began in the basement of a two-story residence in the 2800 block of South Kedvale Avenue sometime before 3:30 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Using three lines, firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze by 4 a.m.

Two victims, a 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were taken to St. Anthony Hospital in good condition, while the firefighter was taken to Rush University Medical Center, also in good condition, authorities said.

The cause of the fire wasn't known.
