A fire damaged some materials but not the building early Saturday morning on Janesville's south side.

JANESVILLE, Wis. -- A fire damaged some materials but not the building early Saturday morning on Janesville's south side. Employees reported the fire at 4:45 a.m. Saturday at Humane Manufacturing, 1350 Venture Drive, Janesville, according to a news release from the Janesville Fire Department.

The fire started in a press inside the building and spread to nearby materials. Employees evacuated and were not injured. The sprinkler system activated and kept the fire under control until fire crews arrived, according to the news release.

Damage is estimated at $30,000 and was limited to products in the building and not the building's structure. Damage to the press and other machinery was not estimated Saturday at the time the news release. Hendricks Commercial Properties, Beloit, owns the property.

Emergency workers from the Janesville police and fire departments and Alliant Energy responded to the fire.
