Injured New Hampshire Firefighter Flown to Hospital

The fire destroyed an unoccupied home early Sunday morning in Wolfeboro.

WOLFEBORO, N.H. -- Officials reported a fire early Sunday morning, which destroyed an unoccupied home on Pine Street and injured a firefighter.

The Wolfeboro firefighter was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center by DHART helicopter.

Sunday morning, at approximately 2:07 a.m., officials including Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue and the police department responded to a single-alarm fire at 46 Pine Street. The building was reportedly fully involved in fire when officials arrived, and unoccupied by a Brooklyn, N.Y., resident who owns the property.

The fire was reportedly under control by 3:32 a.m.

Wolfeboro Firefighter Thomas A. Trask, 23, was injured as officials battled the blaze, and transported to Huggins Hospital before he was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

Fire-Rescue declined to comment on the status of Trask and officials at the Wolfeboro Police Department could not be reached for comment on Sunday.

According to a press release, the fire is under investigation by Wolfeboro as well as the state Fire Marshal's Office. Authorities would not comment as to whether the fire is considered suspicious at this time.

Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue was assisted at the scene by Tuftonboro Fire-Rescue, Ossipee Corner Fire-Rescue, Stewarts Ambulance, the Wolfeboro Police Department, Wolfeboro Municipal Electric Department, and the N.H. Fire Marshal's Office. Alton Fire-Rescue covered Wolfeboro Central Station.
