Nov. 09--Neighbors are being credited with saving a Detroit wheelchair-bound grandmother when a fire broke out in her home this morning.

The woman and three grandchildren are being treated at two local hospitals after the blaze on the 12500 block of Hampshire Street, near I-94 and Conner Street, at 5:42 a.m., according to the Detroit Fire Department.

They suffered minor smoke inhalation and are expected to survive.

The grandchildren, who live in the home with their mother and grandmother, ran to a neighbor's home for help. The neighbors were able to carry the woman out before she was seriously hurt.

The cause of the fire, which began in the basement, remains under investigation.
