Officials said it wasn't the first time the Oakland fire station has been hit by random gunfire.

Nov. 24--OAKLAND -- A window at an East Oakland fire station across the street from a police substation was damaged by gunfire Friday afternoon.

The window at Station 23 in the 7100 block of Foothill Boulevard, across from the Eastmont Police Substation, was not the intended target but was hit by random bullets fired by someone possibly involved in a running gun battle with another person.

Police believe the first shots started about 4 p.m. in the area of 73rd and Ney avenues. Then, in the 7100 block of MacArthur Boulevard, which runs behind the fire station, approximately 11 shots were fired; another nine shots were fired near 66th Avenue and MacArthur.

No one was found wounded from the gunfire, nor were there any crashed cars related to the incident. No arrests were made.

The window hit at the fire station is in the back of the building, overlooking the dining area. Four firefighters were in the station at the time, but none of them were in the dining area and no one was injured. Officials said it wasn't the first time the fire station has been hit by random gunfire.
