Five Hurt in Minn. Ice House Propane Blast

Five people were injured Sunday morning in an apparent propane explosion in an ice house along the shore of Lake of the Woods at Zippel Bay, north of Williams, Minn.

Dec. 31--Five people were injured Sunday morning in an apparent propane explosion in an ice house along the shore of Lake of the Woods at Zippel Bay, north of Williams, Minn.

All five were transported to Lakewood Health Center in Baudette, Minn., and then airlifted to a burn center in Duluth, Minn., according to Lake of the Woods Sheriff's Department.

The victims are Rod Bolstad, Hillsboro, N.D., and his sons, Jake and Joel Bolstad. The other injured are Al Stokke and Willy Houtre. Addresses were not available.

The accident occurred at about 8 a.m. in a privately owned camper.

Condition reports on the victims were not immediately available.

Lake Of The Woods County Sheriff's Office, Lake Of The Woods Ambulance, Williams Fire Department, Northern Lights first responders, Baudette Fire Department, Baudette Rescue Squad, and Warroad Ambulance responded.

The incident is under investigation by the Lake Of The Woods County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's office.
