Ex-Pa. Firefighter Said He Set Fires to Fight Them

An ex-Dupont volunteer firefighter is accused of setting 13 arson fires last year and has been charged with five counts of arson for the fires that damaged property.

Jan. 09--An ex-Dupont volunteer firefighter is accused of setting 13 arson fires last year, according to charges filed today.

David Donnora, 23, of 433 Highway 315, in Dupont, admitted to setting the fires "because he likes to fight them," according to arrest papers.

Donnora was charged today with five counts of arson for the fires that damaged property. The other eight fires were brush fires that are still being investigated.

Donnora was terminated from the fire department after being implicated and charged in a Dec. 10 fire at 251 Main St. in Dupont, fire officials said.

In interview with state police, Donnora admitted to setting 13 fires in all between May 6 and Dec. 10, police said.

Donnora is expected to be arraigned on multiple counts of arson charges this afternoon by Magisterial District Judge Diana Malast in Plains Township.

May 6: Brush fire on Laflin Road

May 20: Brush fire on Laflin Road

May 27: Brush fire on Laflin Road

June 3: Fire to railroad ties on Casey Kassa coal property in Laflin

June 7: Structure fire at 112 Oak St. in Pittston Township

June 10: Brush fire along Route 315 in Laflin

June 26: Brush fire along Route 315 in Laflin

July 3: Trailer fire at Bosco Trucking on state Route 315 in Pittston Township

Aug. 18: Brush fire on Sunset Road in Laflin

Sept. 1: Brush fire on Main Street in Laflin

Sept. 16: Structure fire at 112 Oak St. in Pittston Township

Sept. 30: structure fire at 351 Lidy Road in Dupont

Dec. 10: Structure fire at 251 Main St. in Dupont
