Jan. 10--A woman was visiting a northeast Oklahoma City nursing home Thursday morning when her car crashed into the building, fire department officials said. No injuries were reported.

The crash was at Skyview Nursing Center, 2200 N Coltrane Road, and fire crews went to the scene shortly after 10 a.m., fire Maj. Mike Burner said.

Firefighters said the front half of the car had been driven through a brick wall into a bedroom on the north side of the nursing home.

A nursing home employee said everyone thought it was a fire in a bathroom because of the smoke. It wasn't until they were evacuating they realized a car had crashed into the building, the employee said.

There were no occupants in the room at the time of the crash. Firefighters said the driver was able to get out of the car and inside the room, Burner said.

"We are very fortunate that no one was injured in the accident," Burner said. "The nursing home staff had the whole nursing home evacuated. They did an outstanding job getting the residents out and it worked out well."

Burner said the nursing home sustained framing damage and firefighters put temporary shores up inside the wall after the car was towed out.

The name of the driver was not released and the driver is not expected to be arrested.
