SYCAMORE – Crews spent about an hour overnight fighting a fire that caused about $90,000 in damages to a home in the 400 block of West High Street.

Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the attic when they arrived about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release. Firefighters contained the fire to the attic, but the rest of the home suffered water and smoke damage.

Crews had the fire under control within an hour and spent about another hour salvaging and overhauling the scene, the news release states. All occupants escaped safely, but a firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause was under investigation Monday morning.
