Calif. Firefighters Extinguish Huge Pallet Facility Fire

Jan. 23--Fire crews extinguished a large pallet blaze near Camarillo early today, fire officials said.

The fire was first reported about 2:41 a.m. at a warehouse facility in the 5400 block of Santa Clara Avenue, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

First responders described the blaze as approximately 1 acre in size, officials said.

Several power poles, vehicles and equipment were threatened by the fire, officials said.

Responding units were able to contain the fire to its area of origin. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze about 4:35 a.m.

Eight engines, one truck company, two water tenders and others responded to the blaze, officials said. Ventura City firefighters assisted in the incident.

A fire investigator was on scene about 5:30 a.m. trying to determine the cause of the blaze, a fire dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
