Mich. Fire Claims Lives of Three Young Children

A fire in a Kalamazoo apartment on Monday (Feb. 18) killed three children.

At approximately 2 p.m., the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety received a call about an apartment fire at 1054 Interfaith Homes, Apartment A. Additional calls indicated children were trapped in the upstairs of the apartment.

When KDPS officers arrived on the scene the apartment was “fully involved in fire with flames shooting out from the windows,” according to KDPS.

Officers immediately entered the building but it was too late to save the children. By the time authorities reached them all three had died in the fire.

The victims, Tevin Williams Jr., Ty’nitha Williams and Tyonna Henderson were all 3 years old or younger.

Police are continuing their investigation of the fire.
