Pa. Firefighter Hurt in Fall off Roof

The Tobyhanna Township firefighter was flown to a trauma center.

April 08--The condition of a firefighter injured while battling a blaze in Coolbaugh Township on Saturday night is improving, according to a fellow firefighter.

The injured firefighter, who was with the Tobyhanna Township Fire Co., fell off a roof while fighting a fire at a home on Maxatawny Drive in Arrowhead Lakes, a residential community.

The initial call came in around 8:30 p.m. with reports of a fire on the roof. Soon after, Monroe County Control Center was calling for more manpower.

By 9:05 p.m., a helicopter was called because the firefighter had fallen from the roof of the two-story dwelling. According to radio reports, he landed on his back, but was conscious.

No other information was immediately available Sunday.
