Fire Damages Conn. Businesses

A pizza place and wine shop were damaged.

June 20--MADISON -- Fire has heavily damaged two businesses in Madison.

Firefighters were called to 734-738 Boston Post Road about 3:30 a.m. Thursday for a fire that heavily damaged Village Pizza restaurant and the Madison Wine Shop.

The fire's cause is now under investigation.

Route 1 through Madison was closed as firefighters battled the blaze, but the road was expected to reopen for limited traffic. Police urged people to avoid the area. Parking is limited, police said.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters from several towns responded.

Madison police, the local fire marshal and the state fire marshal are investigating.

Power in the area and Connecticut Light & Power will restore power when it is safe to do so, police said.
