July 03--GARDEN CITY -- A Boise firefighter was hospitalized Wednesday after helping to extinguish an early morning fourplex fire in Garden City. The firefighter was taken to the hospital when he began to feel ill, and has since been released.

The blaze was reported at 1:44 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of 39th Street. Crews saw smoke coming from the roof of the building when they arrived at the location, according to a Boise Fire press release.

The building sustained serious damage. One victim was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Investigators said the blaze likely started in the attic near an electrical panel, but an exact cause has not been released

The wood-framed building was originally a barn that had been converted into apartments, crews said, which complicated efforts to extinguish the fire.
