July 15--Tremendous progress was made on the Pipeline Fire Complex Saturday night through Sunday morning that brought containment of the blaze up to 95 percent.
The fire, which is burning on Fisher's Peak in Las Animas County in steep and rugged terrain, is being fought by a total number of 82 personnel, including hand crews and a water tender.
Mop-up of the interior of the fire continued on Sunday.
Command of the fire will be transferred from a Type III organization to the local district today, according to Amy Daniels, public information officer with the Type III incident command team.
The blaze has scorched 100 acres of land but hasn't grown for several days.
Elsewhere, the West Fork Fire Complex burning 14 miles southeast of Pagosa Springs stands at 109,615 acres but jumped from 50 percent containment Saturday to 66 percent containment on Sunday.
The number of personnel working the fire was almost cut in half in the span of a day, as just 289 are working it now.
The growth potential for the West Fork Fire Complex is low as firefighters have made significant progress in the last week.
