Woman Killed in Fla. Mobile Home Fire

A 57-year-old woman was trapped in her burning St. Cloud home early Saturday morning.

July 20--A presumed electrical fire cost a St. Cloud woman her life Saturday when she became trapped inside her mobile home, police said.

A neighbor called 911 about 3:10 a.m. to report smoke and fire coming from a window air conditioner, investigators said.

A second 911 caller reported flames shooting through the roof of the home in The Mark Mobile Home Park on U.S. Highway 192, known as 13th Street in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud firefighters found Sallie Mason, 57, inside.

They performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took her to St. Cloud Regional Medical Center. But because of the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she died about 5:45 a.m.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death, suspected to be smoke inhalation or burns, investigators said.

The state Fire Marshal's office will investigate the cause of the fire, which police said apparently was electrical.

Mason's roommate arrived home shortly after the fire broke out, Roberts said.
