Firehouse Expo Keynotes to be Streamed

July 24, 2013
The kickoff ceremony for Firehouse Expo will be streamed online beginning at 8:30 a.m (ET) on Thursday.

Firehouse will offer a live stream of Thursday morning's opening ceremonies and two keynote addresses from the conference in Baltimore.

The three days portion at the Baltimore Convention Center begins at 8:30 a.m. (ET) with Firehouse Conference Director Harvey Eisner at emcee.

"We are happy to be able to share the kickoff event with anyone who is unable to join us here in Baltimore," Eisner said. "We want everybody to see what Firehouse offers."

FDNY Assistant Chief Robert Maynes, who heads the department's operations in the borough of Queens, will discuss the department's response and recovery following Hurricane Sandy last fall.

He'll highlight the department’s preparedness, preparations, operations and post storm operations. Over 100 homes burned in the southern end of Queens during Sandy as firefighters peformed dozens of rescues in other neighborhoods.

Former Navy SEAL Ryan Parrott will share challenges he faced after being injured by an IED in Iraq in 2005..

Parrott is the founder of the not-for profit-charitable group, Sons of the Flag, which provides critical support to military and first responders who have survived burn injuries.

The winner of this year's Firehouse Heroism Awards program will be honored and other highlights will take place during the 90 minute stream.
