The two-alarm fire was reported just after midnight in Northeast Baltimore.

July 24--Two firefighters were injured in a two-alarm fire that burned through a single-family home in Northeast Baltimore early Wednesday morning, according to the Baltimore Fire Department.

Firefighters first responded to the home in the 6100 block of Marietta Avenue in the city's Hamilton Hills neighborhood about 12:32 a.m., and immediately called a second alarm because of the size of the fire, said Ian Brennan, a department spokesman.

During the course of fighting the fire, one firefighter suffered a minor injury to his eye and a second suffered a minor injury to his lower leg, Brennan said.

Both were sent to a local hospital. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, Brennan said.

No other injuries were reported. The home was vacant and had already had its gas and electric shut off, Brennan said.

The fire was brought under control about 2 a.m., and remains under investigation.
