Mass. Firefighter, 50, Dies of Heart Attack After Shift

A 10-year veteran of the Middleboro Fire Department died 10 days after he suffered a heart attack after working a shift with the department.

A 50-year-old firefighter with the Middleboro Fire Department has died days after suffering a heart attack after finishing a 24-hour shift on July 12.

David Alan Brier of Middleboro, a husband, father and grandfather, died Monday (July 22) after being treated for a heart attack within 24 hours of his last shift, according to The Enterprise News.

Brier was a Middleboro native and a 10-year veteran of the department with five years on the call company before be hired full time, according to the paper.

He was also a self-employed plumber and a contractor for 1-800-Board-Up.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 26 at the Middleboro Central Fire Station, which is fitted with black and purple buntings signifying the station’s mourning.
