Aug. 01--The Fire and Police Commission has upheld the firing of a Milwaukee firefighter accused of going to a fire station while intoxicated to talk to a superior.

Matthew A. Palmer, while upset and intoxicated, visited Engine 2 about 2:30 a.m. March 19 to speak with a deputy chief, violating department rules and the firefighter oath of office, according to the complaint filed against him.

Palmer had appealed his firing to the commission, which upheld it Wednesday. The commission will release a written explanation of its decision in coming days. Palmer can appeal in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
