Ga. High-Rise Hotel Evacuated By Kitchen Fire

A fire in a kitchen storeroom forced the evacuation of a 25-floor hotel as smoke poured into the lobby and other areas of the building.

Aug. 11--No injuries were reported in an overnight fire that forced the evacuation of a high-rise Buckhead hotel.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the fire broke out around midnight in a kitchen storeroom at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in the 3300 block of Lenox Road.

While the fire was contained to the kitchen in the basement of the 25-floor hotel, smoke got into the lobby and other areas of the building.

Guests were allowed back into their rooms after 2 a.m. Sunday, Channel 2 reported.
