Aug. 12--MYRTLE BEACH -- Horry County authorities are investigating what caused a fatal fire early Monday near Conway, officials said.

Donald Loan Sr., 68, who lived in the home at 1806 New Road, was pronounced dead at 2:57 a.m. Monday while being treated at Conway Medical Center, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said.

Fire crews were called about 2 a.m. Monday to a doublewide mobile home at the address, which is located off of U.S. 501 near Lake Busbsee, for the blaze, said Leslie Yancey, public information officer for Horry County Fire Rescue. Crews found the home engulfed in flames and began to work to put out the fire.

There were five people, including Loan, living in the home and three of those people and a neighbor were taken to Conway Medical Center to be treated for various injuries they suffered during the blaze, Yancey said.

Horry County Fire Rescue provided mutual aid to Conway firefighters during the blaze, Yancey said. Horry County Fire and the Horry County Police Department are investigating the blaze.

More information will be posted as it is released.
