Aug. 19--Crews battling the fire on E. 42 Street on Sunday heard noises that may have come from bullets exploding in the heat, Boise Fire Department spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said.
Occasionally, firefighters have been hit by bullets that went off in fires, Hightower said. In this instance, however, no one was struck. The exploding noises were consistent will small arms ammunition, Hightower said.
One firefighter was hurt after being shocked by a downed power line, but officials described the injury as minor. Three other people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, including a man who said he lived in the structure. No one was transported to the hospital.
The fire was reported at 5:24 p.m. near Anser Charter School. Investigators are trying to determine the cause, Hightower said. The structure was a two-floor storage building. At least one man was living inside the building, Hightower said.
