Aug. 22--NEW HAVEN -- A fire captain pulled a gun on a fellow fire official during an on-duty argument Monday, police said.

Fire Capt. Richard Rife was arrested after the incident, which happened at the Lombard Street fire house, department spokesman Officer David B. Hartman said.

Police learned of the incident at 9:45 p.m. Monday from Acting Capt. Frank Ricci, a police press release states. No one was injured.

Ricci told police that several hours earlier, he was involved in an argument with Rife. At one point, Rife pulled a handgun from a holster and "displayed it to him and two other firefighters present," Hartman wrote in the release.

Rife, a North Haven resident, turned himself in at police headquarters on Thursday and was released on a written promise to appear in Superior Court in New Haven.

He is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor, Hartman said.
