Medical Transport Bus Rolls in Mo. Crash

The occupants of the transport vehicle escaped through a hatch while firefighters extricated two others.

Sept. 13--LINCOLN COUNTY -- A medical transport bus and a car collided on Highway 61 at Highway KK, north of Troy, injuring seven people, fire officials said.

The crash happened about 2 p.m. Friday. When firefighters got on scene, they found several patients still inside an overturned medical transport bus and an additional two patients injured in a passenger car with heavy front-end damage.

All of those in the medical transport were able to climb through the roof hatch of the bus with the assistance of firefighters, police and paramedics. The two people in the passenger car had to be extricated by firefighters.

Five of the seven patients with minor to moderate injuries were transported to area hospitals. The other two did not seek medical treatment.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
