Sept. 15--A St. Louis firefighter was injured after he fell through the floor of a home while battling a fire in the 5000 block of Arlington Avenue Sunday afternoon.

He was transported to St. Louis University Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to St. Louis Fire Capt. Dan Sutter.

The initial call of the residential fire came in at 1:27 p.m. as a person trapped, according to Sutter. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the back of the home when they arrived. They entered the two-story frame home and were unable to locate anyone inside, he said. It turned out that no one was home when the fire started.

The firefighter was hurt when he fell through a weakened floor while fighting the fire.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. They were still on the scene 45 minutes later.

Another firefighter was hurt at a different fire earlier Sunday.
