Maine Firefighter Missing For Three Days Found

A Medway firefighter who said he was going to a fire and was gone three days, was found driving on a local road three days later.

Sept. 21--MEDWAY, Maine -- A town firefighter who had been reported missing was found driving on a local road by an East Millinocket police officer who pulled him over Friday afternoon, police said.

Officer Brad Fitzgerald made the routine traffic stop along Main Street in Medway at about 5 p.m. and found Paul Lizotte behind the wheel, Millinocket police said.

Earlier Friday, Medway Fire Chief Brian McLaughlin said Lizotte was last seen on Tuesday when he told somebody he was heading to a fire.

McLaughlin said no fires were reported in Medway, East Millinocket or Millinocket on Tuesday.

"There was nothing going on that day, so he definitely wasn't going to a fire," the fire chief said earlier Friday.

McLaughlin said Lizotte has been with the department for "quite a few years," and the two attended Schenck High School in neighboring East Millinocket together.

Millinocket police said they didn't know why Lizotte reportedly disappeared, but would be speaking to him.
