Md. Firefighter Suffers Hand Injury at Apartment Fire

Firefighters were called just before 12:30 p.m. to a 2 Silerton Road, where they found smoke and flames coming from the third floor apartments.

Sept. 27--A firefighter suffered minor injuries in a blaze that broke out at a Lansdowne apartment building Thursday afternoon -- displacing 27 people, Baltimore County fire officials said.

Firefighters were called just before 12:30 p.m. to a 2 Silerton Road, where they found smoke and flames coming from the third floor apartments.

Firefighters attempted to search the building but had to evacuate it about a half-hour later. Eventually, all residents had exited the building and the fire was placed under control at 1:50 p.m.

One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for a hand injury. No other injuries were reported.

Twelve units were damaged, displacing 13 adults and 14 children. The Red Cross was assisting victims.

Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
